PurrfectMatch (“PURRfect Match” or the “Service”) respects the privacy of its users. We disclose user data to law enforcement and government agencies only when legally required or permitted to do so, consistent with applicable law and our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. This page explains how authorized agencies may submit legal requests for user data.
1. Submitting a Request
All legal requests for user data must be submitted in writing to our designated legal intake address:
Requests sent to any other address (including general support or contact channels) may not be processed. Please use the intake address above so we can route and respond to legal matters promptly.
2. Required Information
To help us process a request quickly, please include all of the following:
- The requesting law-enforcement agency or government body, and the name and badge/ID of the submitting agent.
- A direct contact name, phone number, and official email address for the agent.
- The specific legal authority relied upon — the statute, subpoena, court order, search warrant, or other valid legal process.
- A clear and specific description of the records sought, including the user identifier, email address, account URL, and the relevant date range.
- The deadline by which a response is required.
- A scanned copy of the legal process (signed court order, warrant, or subpoena) as a PDF attachment.
3. Legal Process We Require
PURRfect Match discloses different categories of data depending on the legal authority presented. As a general guide:
- Basic subscriber information (such as account email, account creation date, and last-activity date) may be produced in response to a valid subpoena or court order.
- Content and communications (such as profile content, photos, and messages) require a court order or search warrant issued by a court of competent jurisdiction.
- Emergency disclosures — see Section 4.
We do not voluntarily disclose user data absent valid legal process, except in the emergency circumstances described below. We reserve the right to challenge requests that are overly broad, unclear, or improper, and to notify users of requests for their data where permitted by law.
4. Emergency Requests
Where a law-enforcement agency determines that an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to a person requires disclosure without delay, we will expedite review of the request. Emergency requests must be submitted to the intake address above with the subject line “EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST” and must describe the nature of the emergency and the specific information needed to address it. We may follow up to confirm the requesting agent’s identity before disclosing data.
4A. Reports of Child Sexual Exploitation (NCMEC CyberTipline)
PURRfect Match is an electronic service provider subject to 18 U.S.C. § 2258A. Reports of apparent child sexual exploitation or child sexual abuse material (CSAM) identified on the Service are reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline as soon as practicable. Law-enforcement agencies investigating child sexual exploitation involving a PURRfect Match account may request records related to such a report through the intake address above. We also report suspected child sexual exploitation directly to law enforcement where appropriate. Members of the public can report child sexual exploitation to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org or by calling 1-800-843-5678.
5. Data We May Have
The data potentially associated with a PURRfect Match account may include: account email, profile information (display name, bio, photos, prompts), cat profile information, match and like records, messages sent and received, Boop records, blocks and reports, and transaction records for purchases and donations. We retain data for the duration of a user’s account and afterward as described in our Terms. Please scope requests narrowly to the specific user, timeframe, and data category needed.
6. User Notice
When legally permitted, we notify users of requests for their data. We may delay or withhold notice when prohibited by law, by a court order, or when notice would jeopardize an active investigation. We do not notify users of national-security or other requests that legally forbid notification.
7. International Requests
Requests from agencies outside the United States must be made through the applicable Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) or other lawful cross-border process. We may also respond to requests made under valid legal process that we are legally required or permitted to honor under applicable U.S. law.
8. Preservation Requests
Law-enforcement agencies may request that we preserve records pending issuance of legal process. Please submit preservation requests to the intake address above, identifying the account and data to be preserved. Preservation is subject to the same legal-sufficiency review as production requests.
Upon receipt of a valid preservation request, PURRfect Match will preserve the specified records for a period of 90 days. This preservation period may be extended upon request — agencies may submit a written extension request to the intake address above before the initial 90-day period expires, and we will preserve the records for the additional period specified in the extension request. Preservation under this Section 8 is separate from, and in addition to, the immediate evidence retention described in Section 11.
9. Responses
We respond to valid legal requests as promptly as practicable in the circumstances. We may request clarification or additional information when needed to identify the account or scope the request. We may seek reimbursement for the costs of producing records where permitted by law.
10. Governing Law
These protocols are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, consistent with the governing-law provision of our Terms of Service.
11. Zero Tolerance & Evidence Retention
PURRfect Match maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against human trafficking, sex trafficking, and sexual exploitation in any form. Such conduct is prohibited on the Service, is grounds for immediate and permanent removal under our Acceptable Use Policy, and will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Whenever child sexual abuse material (CSAM), child sexual exploitation, or trafficking is detected on or in connection with the Service, PURRfect Match will immediately preserve all relevant evidence — including account records, content, communications, and associated metadata — and will retain that evidence for as long as necessary to support investigation, prosecution, and reporting obligations, including reports to the NCMEC CyberTipline and to law-enforcement agencies. This preservation and retention occurs irrespective of any separate preservation request under Section 8, and is not subject to the 90-day period described there.
