This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) is part of our Terms of Service and is incorporated by reference. It applies to everyone who accesses or uses PurrfectMatch (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to follow it.
1. Age
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You may not create an account, post content, or communicate with members on behalf of anyone under 18.
2. Lawful Use
You may not use the Service to commit, plan, or facilitate any illegal act, or to instruct, encourage, or assist anyone else in doing so.
3. Prohibited Content & Behavior
You agree not to post, share, request, or facilitate any of the following on the Service:
- Sexually explicit profile content — nudity or explicit sexual material in profile photos, cat photos, bios, prompts, or messages.
- Child sexual exploitation or abuse — any content that sexualizes a minor, or expresses or implies sexual or romantic interest in anyone under 18, in any form, including text, imagery, symbols, or coded language.
- Sexual violence — content depicting, threatening, encouraging, or glorifying rape, sexual assault, coercion, or any non-consensual sexual contact.
- Non-consensual intimate content — sharing, threatening to share, or requesting private intimate images of another person without their clear, voluntary consent, regardless of where the images were obtained.
- Human trafficking & sex trafficking — facilitating, recruiting for, promoting, or profiting from the trafficking or sexual exploitation of any person, or aiding or attempting any such conduct.
- Scams & fraud — schemes, deception, or fraudulent activity intended to defraud, extort, or financially harm other members, including romance scams, advance-fee fraud, and impersonation for money.
- Animal abuse — content depicting, promoting, encouraging, or instructing abuse, neglect, cruelty, or fighting involving animals, or sharing material that glorifies harm to animals.
4. Zero Tolerance
Violations involving minors, trafficking, sexual violence, non-consensual intimate content, or animal abuse result in immediate permanent removal from the Service, forfeiture of any paid access, and a report to the appropriate law-enforcement authorities. Reports of child sexual exploitation are filed with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline in accordance with 18 U.S.C. § 2258A and, where applicable, to law enforcement. We actively screen for this material.
Other violations may result in content removal, restrictions, suspension, or permanent termination at our discretion, as described in the Terms.
5. Trust & Safety Controls
We use a mix of automated screening, member reporting, and human review to identify and detect violations of this AUP. We do not proactively read your messages or your day-to-day activity; our controls focus on the points where harm most often enters the Service — signup, photos, and reported behavior.
Age controls
- Date of birth is captured at sign-up, and only users 18 and older can create an account.
- Users under 18 cannot create an account at all — the 18+ check at sign-up blocks them before a profile exists, so they never reach discovery or messaging.
- Users may not post content or communicate on behalf of anyone under 18.
Content controls
- Automated explicit-content screening. Uploaded photos are scanned by automated systems at upload time to detect nudity or explicit sexual material and reject it before it appears on a profile.
- Duplicate & suspicious photo detection. Each photo is hashed and compared against existing uploads to detect stolen, reused, or suspicious images often tied to fake profiles and scams.
- Targeted human review. Profiles flagged by automated checks, by multiple reports, or that signal a higher safety risk receive in-person review of the specific profile or photo — not routine monitoring of broader activity.
- No proactive message scanning. We do not scan private conversations. Moderation of chats relies on the screenshots members submit when they report someone, and content is accessed only to investigate a specific safety matter or valid legal request.
Behavior controls
- In-app reporting. Any member can report a profile for prohibited content or behavior, with details and a screenshot, and reports are routed to our review team.
- Automatic flagging. Profiles that accumulate multiple reports are automatically flagged for priority review.
- Phone verification for messaging. Sending messages requires a verified phone number, which deters throwaway and re-offending accounts.
- Blocking & message filters. Members can block others and set their own word/phrase blocklist and link-hiding to filter unwanted or scam attempts.
- Rate limits. Lightweight interactions (Boops) are allowance-limited to prevent spam and mass harassment.
Enforcement
- Responses range from content removal and warnings to temporary restrictions, suspension, and permanent termination.
- Violations involving minors, trafficking, sexual violence, non-consensual intimate content, or animal abuse result in immediate permanent removal and forfeiture of paid access, and may be reported to law enforcement.
- Re-abuse prevention. When an account is permanently removed for serious violations, we retain a limited record (such as a hashed phone number or email and a verification-photo hash) so the person cannot simply re-register to resume the abuse.
6. Appeals
If your profile has been restricted or removed, you can submit an appeal from the in-app appeal page (linked in the suspension notice at the top of your screen) or through the Contact page. Include your account email and a brief explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect. We aim to respond to appeals within 72 hours of receipt.
If your appeal is approved, the restriction or removal is reversed and your profile is restored. If your appeal is denied, the original action stands; you may submit new evidence for reconsideration through the Contact page. Zero-tolerance violations (minors, trafficking, sexual violence, non-consensual intimate content, or animal abuse) are permanent and non-appealable, though we will still review any appeal submitted.
7. How to Report
If you encounter prohibited content or behavior, report it from the member’s profile or contact us through the Contact page. Our team reviews and acts on reports within 24 hours for zero-tolerance violations (minors, trafficking, sexual violence, non-consensual intimate content, or animal abuse) and within 72 hours for other reports. Reports of child sexual exploitation are escalated immediately and filed with the NCMEC CyberTipline and the appropriate law-enforcement authorities. You can also report child sexual exploitation directly to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org or by calling 1-800-843-5678.
